Welcome to Flashback Friday!
This week’s episode is actually a throwback to the very first episode I ever recorded of the Naptown Pintcast with Crooked Crab Brewing, which has the potential to be the first brewery opening in Anne Arundel County.
Yes, I’m obviously serving up to you a little out of order. But I assure you this fun conversation — that came with its own “peanut gallery” — was well worth the wait.
Alex and Head Brewer Andrew
On that sunny afternoon about a month ago, Alex, Andrew and I found ourselves seated at a small table in a parking lot behind their empty, blank canvas of a 6,000-square-foot, brewery-to-be space. (Who knew a cavernous echo chamber wasn’t ideal for recording a podcast, right?)
Over a few beers (from 3 Stars, Trillium and RAR Brewing), we talked about who Crooked Crab is now, as well as how they hope to contribute to their own community, when their doors ultimately open this upcoming winter.
But more than that, we talked their focus on giving back against the backdrop of their unique perspective as a new brewery in planning during what as a very tumultuous legislative session.
Even having traveled such a bumpy road, the gang at Crooked Crab hopes to change minds about what a brewery taproom can and should be to the towns and cities they call home.
Oh, and Andrew has a “man crush” on Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot.
Okay, Here’s the Episode
